Welcome to the Better Proportions Series
In this step by step drawing demo you’ll learn two effective methods to get better proportions in your drawings. I’ll show you how to use alignments and negative spaces. More importantly I’ll explain what questions you should be asking yourself as you draw and how to stay organized.
Necessary tool:
A thin, long, straight measuring tool (knitting needle, thin dowel, skewer)
Important Tips:
- Close one eye when checking alignments and negative spaces, to flatten out your depth perception.
- Begin with your outermost alignments
- Next, check your biggest items
- Don’t begin with small areas
- Combine alignments with negative spaces
