8 Random Things about me
1) I love art but the art world annoys me.
Factionism about "Illustration vs Fine Art" or snooty galleries gross me out.
2) I'm German
Born and raised in the Bavarian boonies, an hour outside of Munich (Trust me, you wouldn't know it). I came to SoCAL because the only accredited art college teaching traditional drawing and painting at the time was here. All I could get in Germany were abstraction and conceptual art... needless to say, they're not my thing.
3) I'm a bookworm and word-nerd
Nothing makes me happier than a shelf filled with books or finding out about the obscure origin of a sparkling word.
4) I love art supplies
Especially all things pen & ink, or new brushes. Must! Have!
5) I'm opinionated about coffee, forks and whiskey
They all have to be just so. And if you're wondering, the answer is: neatÂ
6) One of my most prized posessions is my skull, bones and nest collection
I pick these things up wherever I can find them and have been known to bring home (fresh) roadkill...
7) If I didn't like drawing so much I'd have become a horse trainer
From the moment I could speak I was into horses and always loved working with them. But my dad wisely advised me not to pursue the horse world professionally because there was "no money in it!"... so, naturally, I chose art instead, lol!
8) I LOVE MY JOB
Whether it's drawing, painting, talking about composition and ideas, or nerding out over art supplies. It's all awesome to me. Especially sharing my hard-earned insight with you makes me happy as a clam.
